Living in the Power of God

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Read that again two more times… Slowly.

What stands out to you?

As I read it again, the words “power of God” caught my attention. I consider myself to be in the second category of one being saved. But I have to stop and question how much of “the power of God” I’m actually seeing in my life. how much of that power is flowing through me to affect the lives of others around me?

This makes me think of another verse that says we have a form of Godliness but we deny its power.

I am praying for myself and also for the church folk to understand the treasures we have in Christ. Sometimes I feel like we leave it all in a dusty attic of our existence and we don’t use the gifting‘s, callings, or even God’s power to literally change our own lives and the lives around us.

Salvation is so much more than a ticket to get us into heaven. It should be a connection with God that completes us and fills us to overflowing. Go read Ephesians and see just how incredibly power-FULL God wants us to be.

👉🏻To be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Paul prayed that we would be strengthened with power through His spirit and our inner being… rooted and established in love. He prayed we would understand that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives on the inside of us.

What is that power suppose to be used for?? Selah. (Pause and think about that.)

Anytime I am feeling hurt, down, or wallowing in self-pity, I remember that I can choose to live in the power of the spirit of God rather than live in my emotions or thoughts or even the lies that the devil or others have spoken to me.

When I start praying and really connecting with God, and when I reach out and ask others to pray for me, that’s when I start seeing things change around me. I see the presence of God in my husband, and my children, in my friendships and God’s presence overshadows my emotions and circumstances. Sometimes it’s literally my circumstances that change, but most of the time it’s my perspective of the circumstances that lifts me higher and higher until the trial passes or is miraculously changed by prayer.

I pray that if you are reading this, you are able to take a few moments and really focus and meditate upon the truth of God’s power. I pray that you, too, are filled to the measure of all the fullness of God! May you live in a place of victory in every area of life because Jesus did say that He overcame the world. He wants to show us how to do that as well.
