To Young Moms

Pssst....hey moms.

Trust me on this..... the days will fly by. The toys won’t always be scattered on the floor. The giggles of playdates and park days will one day be memories. The messy kitchen table filled with playdough crumbs and finger painting stains will be replaced.

All of those long hours you spend with your children ARE making a difference. You ARE making an eternal impact. You ARE a type of hero for your little ones because you have the ability to love like no other. You are your kids’ mom for a reason and you do indeed have what it takes to raise amazing human beings!!

If I could give 3 little pieces of advice to any young mom out there it would be these:

1- Read Bible story books with your kids EVERY SINGLE DAY. Let them watch wholesome Jesus videos every single day. Those stories will add up over time and they will grow to love and respect Jesus and carry that into adulthood.

2- Put the distractions down and play with your kids....live life with your kids. (Like I mean for hours.) Play with playdough, finger paint, pull out the dried pinto beans and count with them. Sing songs and dance around the living room and give lots and lots of hugs!!! Include them in your daily activities like cooking and cleaning and let them be a part. When you are actually “living life” with your kids, you will understand them and they will adapt to you and your expectations even in their behavior. When the phones and devices are put away, you set you and your kids up for less frustrations and less stress.

3- Find other Christian moms to do life with. You will glean solid advice and get help when you need it. You will have shoulders to cry on and ladies to lean on when you are having a rough day. You will get to have fun play dates that meet your kids’ needs and also meet YOUR OWN need for adult conversation. The best way I found those connections was through a church that offered connection groups or Bible studies. Most times a church will offer safe child care while you get to connect and do a book study or a Bible study with other ladies. Sometimes the ladies have guest speakers or simply just have a time to hang out and chat. These were sooooooooo so so so so SOOOOOOO beneficial for me and my kids when they were young.

Motherhood is full of blessings and full of rewards. Don’t blink!! You might miss it! 🙂
